Sports are now a part of our daily life, and sports are here to stay in our culture. One hundred years ago life was all about working and recovery. Our decedents worked from sunup to sundown, ate a meal, maybe read a little and then went to bed. Now I am one of those football fans that loves Monday night, Thursday night and Sunday. Tailgating is a Pre-game Ritual: This is not a new ritual, ask the fans of the Roman Coliseum watching the gladiators in their struggle for their lives. But they don’t have tailgates, and this is our time for our pre-game ritual. This really gets a good footing in this country when the literal invention of the tailgate happens to our station wagons. The Rise of Pickleball and its Rules: We are hoping this summer to be playing this game at our park. Our community saw the rise of this game and its amazing expansion in this country as a reason to pay attention. Now the plan is to build some pickleball courts for the citizens. This game is good for the young and old. It is ideal for those of us over sixty. We just need some good tennis shoes and clothing. This is also growing in popularity for those in wheelchairs.
