Additional Guest Bath Remodel: First I do a paint job. Sickly yellow walls and ceiling are not acceptable. Then I install a small glass shelf over the toilet and live with this for awhile. The cabinet is already an upgrade that comes with the house, but the room still looks a little dated. The basement bath looks Great, and then I get it. Change the Door with the Handle: The pictures do not do the project justice. One door changed looks good, and when you change them all the whole house has a subtle yet real significant change to it. The basement has the brass handles, but down there the doors are white so there is a nice contrast. But basically I am a tight wad and want to save some money until the door knobs start to drive me nuts. See what I purchase after the return of the entire first batch:
Collectibles Shelf: Too many dishes or books or collectibles? Time to install inexpensive shelves in less than a day. Add more time if you stain your boards, but this is simple and a one man job. Make these any size you want and anchor into each stud or skip a stud. These steel brackets are so strong you can do a larger distance if you are going into a steel beam like I did. Colonial to Craftsman Railing: This stair railing is transformed in twenty minutes. This is the ‘Easy House Renovations’ lifestyle in a nut shell. Since the spindles themselves are square, they work with my look as long as the posts are modified. I make a phone call to a carpenter I know, and this job just can’t be any easier. With a simple fix the railing is no longer colonial in appearance but now craftsman. And really Cheap! Now the debate is I want the Railings Black, Hubby is totally against Black!
Create a Deck Railing for Privacy: O.C.D. is real, so I dismiss mine as being only slightly out of control! It is my selective version. My eyes zoom in onto the rusted air conditioner and the house siding with an electric meter and lines going everywhere. This happens every morning we go out on our deck with our cup of coffee for a relaxing start of the day. This is not relaxing, it sets my creative bells off trying to figure out a remedy. Let’s Change up the Railing and Make it Cedar like the Gazebo:
We get a Beautiful Gazebo: This is an easy home renovation as long as you know how to find a good contractor. In our case we need to remove the lawn and put in concrete. The choice ends up being simple. One quote is $11,000 and one is $4,000 with a stain included. I make a few referral calls and the deed is done.
